Jason and Faith at Jack Daniels
I can't believe our time in Alabama has come to a close. We had a pretty exciting weekend last week. We drove to Lynchburg, Tennessee to see the Jack Daniels Distillery.
Jason carries Faith over to Miss Mary's
We were also lucky enough to eat at Miss Mary's Boarding House. Usually, reservations are made weeks in advance, but we walked in and found out that a couple had just cancelled. Miss Bobo's is unique in that everyone sits around large tables, strangers and all. There is a hostess to each table to keep conversation flowing. Faith was quite taken with our hostess, Miss Betty. She was also quite taken with the "candied stewed apples", which Miss Betty later told me were spiked liberally with...
Jack Daniels! (Of course!!)
Hopefully, the cooking process really does get rid of the alcohol. The meal was so good, I bought Miss Mary's cookbook. Imagine my horror when, reading Miss Mary's history, I come to find that the house stands on the site of the original LYNCHING tree in town. Hence the name: Lynchburg. I don't know why I did not figure that one out myself. Too many stewed apples, I guess.
We have also been busy saying goodbye to our friends in Huntsville. Faith took it especially hard when we said goodbye to Miss Jo, her babysitter at the gym. I had to buy that poor woman a thank you gift. You see, Faith would scream for the first 10 minutes after I dropped her off. (The babysitter we used for my birthday reported that Faith screamed for the first HOUR ) But, Miss Jo works wonders with Faith, and was busy trying to get her socialized. I wish we could take Miss Jo with us. She is a retired teacher, but volunteers to watch the children because she misses them. Isn't that sweet? I wish we had more teachers like Miss Jo in the world.

I'm glad to hear that Alabama treated you so well. I'm sure Texas holds all kinds of great things in store for you!
That cookbook sounds great!
Have a fun trip & be careful. I'm sure you'll miss Alabama but you going to Texas means that the time for us to get to see you is getting closer & closer... I can't wait! Awwww, our little girl stands all by herself, she's growing too fast, put a brick on her head or something!
Talk to you soon. (You gonna make us some apples when we come?)
