I've been missing from blogging lately due to my new obsession: the Twilight Series of books by Stephenie Meyer. (I've read all three books in the past 10 days or so... I'm so sleep deprived!)
My apologies to some of my friends who love the Harry Potter series. I thought myself *ahem* too intellectually advanced to ever, ever, pick up a book primarily written for teens and the young adult audience. I didn't understand how anyone past high school could gush on and on about books written for juveniles.
Well..... I guess my time has come. I am eating crow. Maybe I'm not as mature as I would like to pretend. Maybe the baby has sucked the gray matter out of my brain, I don't know. What I do know is that my good friend, Jana (almost 30) is going to wait in line at midnight to secure our copies of Twilight's latest book installment, Breaking Dawn. I'm stoked. (And trying to convince myself that bringing Faith to a launch party at midnight will not a good Mommy make. Alas. Choices.)
For those not tuned into my new obsession, the Twilight Series revolves around Edward (a vampire and the perfect "Byronic Hero", dark and brooding), Bella ( a mere mortal) and Jacob (a werewolf). Ridiculously Juvenile, I know! But the book is full of tension, teen angst, and yes, romance. Numerous references to classics like Romeo and Juliet, and Wuthering Heights.
I was giddy reading the first book. I felt like I was in high school again waiting for the cute guy to ask me out (he never did. Had to wait for college for that! And since I ended up marrying the guy, it was worth the wait!)
Now, what to do when I finish the last book? Hmmmm... maybe ask Megan to mail me the first Harry Potter?

Oh, Karen! Yay!
I have had Twilight on my list for a month or so... just waiting for the library to have it. Now I'm really looking forward to it!
I agree, I was the same way about HP, until I read the first one and then I was hooked. I went to the midnight release of the last HP... with baby in utero!
